The GSO (General Services Office) is a government office responsible for managing and maintaining public buildings, facilities, and resources. It handles property management, supplies, equipment, transport services, waste management, and record keeping, ensuring that government operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Article 20 of RA 7160 – General Services Officer
Section 490. Qualifications, Powers, and Duties
Duties of the General Services Officer:
- Formulate measures for the Sanggunian and provide technical assistance to the Governor to ensure delivery of basic services and adequate facilities.
- Develop and implement plans and strategies approved by the Governor to support the welfare of inhabitants.
- Additional duties:
- Take custody and be accountable for all government properties, real or personal.
- Assign building or land space to local or public officials with approval of the Governor or Mayor.
- Recommend rental rates for government and private properties leased for official use.
- Maintain and supervise janitorial, security, landscaping, and related services in government buildings.
- Collate and share information on prices, shipping, and costs of commonly used supplies.
- Perform archival and record management for all offices and departments.
- Handle supply and property management previously done by the local government Treasurer.
- Lead general services activities during or after disasters, ensuring proper clearing of debris and protection of records, supplies, and properties.
- Recommend to the Sanggunian and advise the Governor on all matters related to General Services.
Also perform other duties as prescribed by law or ordinance.
To formulates measures for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to consider and provides technical assistance to the Provincial Governor so that basic services and provisions of adequate facilities are delivered pursuant to Section 17 of the Local Government Code of 1991
To enforce policies on records creation, maintenance and disposal; taking custody of all properties, real owned by the province or granted to it in the form of donation, reparation, assistance or counterpart in joint projects; performing archival and record management of the records of office and departments of the Provincial Government; recommending the rates of rental for the properties of the Province; and maintaining and supervising security, janitorial, landscaping and other related services for the Province.
